What You Should Know About The Canadian Dental Care Plan

Eligible Canadian residents can now have access to more affordable dental care.

Who is eligible as of May 2025?

Age 0-34

Adults 55 and over

Adults 35-54 with disability tax credit certificate

Family income of less than $90,000 with filed tax return previous year

Dental Hygiene Services Covered Include:

dental hygiene exam

cleaning (scaling)

polishing of teeth

cleaning under the gumline

non surgical gum disease treatment

application of fluoride

application of antiimicrobial/anticariogenic agents such as silver diamine fluoride

sealants

pain control for diseased teeth

Will it be fully covered?

Coverage depends on income and services provided. CDCP may not cover for the full dental treatment cost. Your oral health provider will bill directly to the CDCP but you may have to pay additional charges to the oral health provider if not covered by the CDCP.

Sun life will confirm your eligibility and send you a welcome package which will include your benefit card and benefit start date.

CDCP members who already have coverage may renew their coverage for the 2025-2026 period.
